Description
Preowned in good condition. 6 inches in diameter and 2 inches tallDescription from appraisal: The object is a bowl and is clay with a low pedestal base. The exterior of the bowl has splotchy areas. This is not a design but missing color, a firing mishap. The inside of the rim of the bowl has a small zigzag design. The interior center of the bowl is a large flower (lotus) with petals. Between the outside of each petal are fish with bubbles and sea flora. The main background of the interior and exterior of the bowl is black. The designs on the interior of the bowl are narrow, rolled, white clay that has been placed in designs before firing. The bowl is Chinese Longshan black pottery and is a vintage reproduction (between 1950-1970) of the original Chinese Longshan pottery (2800 B.C.). The description of the bowl is stone (heavy); however, wheel marks (circles) - not paint - are seen on the exterior of the bowl. The black color is very thick, and the walls of the bowl are thick - not thin, as seen in original Chinese Longshan pottery. The bowl is classified as stoneware made from a particular clay and is fired at a higher temperature of 1200 degrees C. This results in a more durable material with a dense, stone-like pottery.
