    Description:
    An rare black Jian or Jianyao tea bowl with good Japanese provenance often called "hare's fur tea bowl" due to the glaze with the iron striations of brownish fine fur-like effect against a shiny black background on the internal and external cavetto of this bowl, the unglazed foot showed a dark purplish brown paste. The form is atypical Song period tea bowl with its indented lips on the mouth rim and the center well is pooled with glaze shiny glaze with a patinated surface and blue steaks when hit with a bright light.
    Provenance: Acquired from a Japanese dealer who claimed to have bought in Kyushu a popular trading place during the 11th to 14th century.
