An antique bronze basin made in the Imperial workshop under Xianfeng reign.
Deep rounded sides rising from a tapering foot to a wide everted rim, cast to the exterior with Chinese characters between leiwen bands, incised to the flat base with a four-character mark Xianfeng nianzhi and of the period, flanked by Manchu characters.
Dated to the third year of the Xianfeng reign (corresponding to 1853).
Made in the Imperial Workshops, ‘Fu lu shou’ (‘Fortune, wealth, and long life’).
Diameter: 38 cm. Weight: 1801 grams.
Condition: with some wear, minor nicks to edges, occasional light scratches, wear to gilt.
