    Description

    Antique Chinese Porcelain Bowl, Shende Tang Mark, Probably Early 19th Century
    The design both inside and outside features plum branches with pink and yellow blossoms and branches of green bamboo.
    Plum blossoms and bamboo leaves in Chinese art symbolize revival after the cold of winter and the beginning of a new year.
    Made by the Shende Tang, a famous maker of porcelain ware of the Qing Dynasty and early Republic, according to the mark on the bottom of the bowl. The Shende Tang was especially productive during the Daoguang reign (1821-1850) of the Qing Dynasty.
